FAQ / Troubleshooting
Account & login
I forgot my password. How do I reset it? Select Forgot password? on the login page and enter your email. If an account exists for that email, you'll get a reset link (the confirmation message is the same either way, so the page can't be used to check which emails are registered). The link expires after 1 hour; request a new one if it does.
I registered but haven't verified my email yet — is that a problem? Not urgently — every part of Brickwise works normally either way. A banner at the top of the app reminds you to verify until you do; select Resend email on it if the original verification email never arrived.
Can I delete my account or get a copy of my data? Yes — both are under Settings (select your name, top right). Export downloads a JSON file of everything you own; deletion requires your current password to confirm and is permanent, so exporting first is worth doing if you're not certain.
"Incorrect email or password" Exactly what it says — double-check both fields. This message is intentionally generic and doesn't tell you which one is wrong, so it can't be used to check whether a given email is registered.
I get logged out unexpectedly / actions suddenly fail with an auth error Your session has two tokens: a short-lived access token and a longer-lived refresh token. Brickwise refreshes automatically in the background, but if the refresh token itself has expired (after extended inactivity), you'll need to log in again.
Registration says my password is invalid but doesn't say why Passwords must be at least 8 characters. This isn't stated on the Register page itself — see Known UI issue.
AI features
A panel shows "AI agent features are not configured" This means the server this instance of Brickwise is running on doesn't have an AI provider connected. Every other part of the app works normally — this only affects Ezrah, Due Diligence, and Investment Manager. Nothing you can fix from the app itself; it's a server-side configuration matter.
"Failed to run the investment manager" Occasionally the AI response comes back in a format Brickwise can't parse. This is a known, occasional reliability limitation, not a problem with your data — select Run investment manager again and it will typically succeed on retry. See Limits & Expectations.
Due diligence or Investment Manager says there's nothing to review These features only work from data already recorded for the property/deal (see Fact and Source in the Glossary) — if none exists yet, there's honestly nothing for them to review, and they say so rather than inventing something.
Research or Listing monitoring shows "BLOCKED" or "INSUFFICIENT DATA" This means the external data provider for that specific feature isn't connected in this environment — a deliberate honest gap, not an error on your part. See Limits & Expectations for which providers are and aren't available.
Ezrah's answer includes a lot of raw JSON That's the Show calculations used section — optional, technical detail showing exactly which calculator Ezrah ran and what it returned, meant for verifying the answer rather than everyday reading. You can ignore it.
Underwriting & scoring
"No financing assumption exists for this property yet - create one first" Shown on Stress Test & Offer or Strategy Comparison when the property has no saved underwriting analysis. Run one first (see Underwriting Analysis) — these features build on it rather than duplicating the calculation.
My Investment Score shows "INSUFFICIENT DATA" The score needs a certain minimum of underwriting data to compute meaningfully. Add units, run an underwriting analysis, and it should populate.
DSCR shows "N/A (no debt)" This is correct, not an error — it means you entered a 100% down payment (an all-cash purchase), so there's no mortgage payment for DSCR to measure against.
Deals & duplicates
Brickwise warned me a deal might be a duplicate, but it isn't The warning is address-matching, not a hard block — review the listed match(es) and select Create anyway if it's genuinely a different property.
Data & mistakes
I deleted something by accident Several delete actions in Brickwise (removing a unit, a saved scenario, a due diligence task, a contact, a document) happen immediately with no confirmation step and can't be undone from the app. See Known UI issue — worth a moment's pause before selecting Remove or Delete on these.
Still stuck?
Check Limits & Expectations for what Brickwise is and isn't designed to do, or the Glossary if a specific term or status isn't making sense.
